Saturday, February 16, 2013 – at East Nashville Undergound (@eastnashunder, aka: ENU) I announced the name of my new Nashville band!
To offer a brief history – I’ve been thinking of having a band name for the incarnation since we’ve been preparing for this (ENU) and other upcoming shows in the works, simply because it’s a fusion of amazing musicians that I have found here in town who all have they’re own things going on that make them stand out astonishingly well, on stage and online.. Scott Fernandez, the 12-string toting bass player is enough of an example of that. People were referring to us after the show as the “band with the 12 string bass”, haha! After a conversation earlier in the week with Matt from No Country for New Nashville about it, I knew I had to make it happen!
As much as this project is the same music as it was in LA or in NY, it’s got a branding of it’s own in this town. In fact, in every incarnation of a band I’ve ever had behind my solo project, there’s been an amazing crew of talented, and distinct musicians all their own. That being said, it’s time this group of musicians (whether in Nashville, NY, or LA) gain a name! This will be how you know when it’s gonna be just me playing a show, Joshua, or me and the boys…
Folks, I’d like to proudly present you the new band, The Bandits (or, Joshua and The Bandits, as we’ll go by). I’m so proud to have been part of such an awesome show, and I’m so happy I could have such an awesome show to introduce my hometown to a fantastic group of players!
